News for January:
*
Congrats to Rachel Beckmann who
won the overall woman's title yesterday (and was
4th overall!) at the "Fat Ass 50k" endurance
run, on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State.
Nice job Rachel!
*
Congrats to Peter Spagnoli for
conquering 3 mountains over 19,000 ft in his recent
expedition to Ecuador. Adventure Racer, Ironman,
and now Mountaineer! Great job Pete!
* Congrats to Doug Johnson for
completing 100k of the H.U.R.T. 100-mile Trail Endurance
Run on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. While Doug
fell short of his goal, this was an unbelievably
brutal course with poor conditions that took out
many experienced previous 100-mile finishers. Doug
had some ITB issues that prevented him from being
able to descend on a course that had huge descents.
He never lost his focus and did his best! Congrats
Doug!
* Coach Al will be speaking at the Multisport
World Conference and Expo at the Zesiger
Sports and Fitness Center at MIT in Cambridge, MA.
on March 30, 2008, on the topic of Efficiency and
Economy for Triathletes. For more information, go
here: http://www.newenglandmultisportexpo.com/index.html
Hope to see you there!

"There is more in us than we know. If we can be made to see it, perhaps, for the rest of our lives, we will be unwilling to settle for less. "
- Kurt Hahn
ENJOY THE PROCESS??
Many of you know that the above 'mantra' often comes out of my mouth, especially when I'm talking to someone about the often difficult and challenging "process" of becoming a better athlete. As I look back over my adult lifetime, with 30+ years spent as a professional musician, endurance athlete, coach, husband, father, and citizen....there's one thing that always comes back to me and stands out as being central in the lives of those of us who are successful, at peace with themselves, and truly HAPPY and fulfilled.
